Mibu no Hana Taue is an agricultural ritual which has been held since the Kamakura Period in the Mibu area of Kitahiroshima town, Hiroshima Prefecture to assure an abundant rice harvest by celebrating the rice deity. The tradition has been held in Western Japan for a long time but the one in Mibu is the largest listed on the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. The promotional movie shows us how the event looks like and locals are having fun with singing and playing percussion instruments.
It only takes 50 minutes to Hiroshima City, Kitahiroshima-cho is a popular commuter town with rich nature. The weather is a bit colder than other cities in western Japan and the town has snow in the wintertime so winter activities can be enjoyed in as well. It is also popular for golfing in the spring and summertime and to see historic cultural places.

Approximately 1h 25mins from Haneda Airport to Hiroshima Airport. It takes 45 mins from Hiroshima Airport to Hiroshima station by Airport Limousine bus and another hour from Hiroshima station to Kitahiroshima-cho town hall by local bus.

Approximately 4hrs from Tokyo to Hiroshima Station by bullet train. It takes 45 mins from Hiroshima Airport to Hiroshima station by Airport Limousine bus and another hour from Hiroshima station to Kitahiroshima-cho town hall by local bus.

Yahata Shitsugen Marsh
There are some marshes in Yahata-kogen area in Kitahiroshima-cho town. Yahata Shitsugen marsh is world famous where rare plants can be seen throughout the year.
A must-eat dish in Kitahiroshima-cho town
Chisha are leaves similar to lettuce i. Chisha-momi is a homemade dish made with salted chopped lettuce marinated with vinegar miso. It’s not a special dish but a popular local food which has been loved in the region for a long time.
A must-buy souvenir in Kitahiroshima-cho town
Ono Sake brewery with a history of 300 years is famous in Kitahiroshima-cho town where Sake brewing has been flourished with good rice and clean water for a long time. Brewery tours are also available but need booking.
