In this episode of Inside Local Japan, Jason Gatewood will show the proper art of entering a Japanese home.One of the more unique aspects of day-to-day life in Japan is the need to remove your shoes upon entering homes, temples and shrines, schools and certain businesses. There is even an special place dedicated to the process called the “genkan” （玄関）that is found wherever one is expected to take of their shoes.
And like many aspects of life in Japan, there is a subtle art involved.
